Former India fast bowler Ajit Agarkar is set to be appointed as the new chief selector of the Indian cricket team. The 45-year-old is expected to be named in the next few days.

He was a member of the Mumbai Cricket Association's selection committee for a few years and is currently an assistant coach with the Delhi Capitals in the IPL.

He is also a respected figure in the dressing room and is seen as someone who can build a strong rapport with the players.

Agarkar's appointment as chief selector comes at a time when the Indian team is going through a transition phase as the team has been inconsistent in recent years 

Agarkar will be tasked with rebuilding the team and helping it regain its status as one of the top teams in the world. He will have to make some tough decisions.
